i'd
walk the walls for you
i
stay up nights, i sleep through days
i try to turn another page
the books i own are all the same
but i run through them anyway
and when i think that i have found
a girl to love i hit the ground
i try to hear but not a sound from her lips
and i feel down
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
with you i'd live, for you i'd die
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
and i don't need a reason why
i pray for rain, i dream of snow
i try to clear my mind of you
i fight you like another day
as the sun rises you still remain
and with your eyes you scream for help
and in my dreams i run to you
though you're not real i'll seek you till i'm old and tired
and then i'll still run for you
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
with you i'd live, for you i'd die
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
and i don't need a reason why
sometimes at night i lie awake
i think of you, the love we'd make
sometimes i sleep, but when i wake
it's just another sunny day
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
with you i'd live, for you i'd die
i'd walk the walls for you
can't you imagine what i'd do?
i'd paint your portrait in the sky
and i don't need a reason why

breathing
jenny's
little tank top blatantly revealed
a secret little monkey tattoo
took her hair out of a braid, her jeans were frayed
you could see her ass right through
a tad scattered, she wondered just what she would do
a list of promises betrayed
she gathered a winter's worth of cash
but a lapse of policy, she stayed
neo theo found his lost glass eye
behind the backboard of his bed
wiped it off with his shirt, then heaved a sigh
then closed his other one instead
from vague intentions he carefully refrained
no doubt from vision misplaced
tuesday's smile and wednesday's laugh were feigned
he keeps his memories away
things not, but almost said
breathing, but almost dead
tears not, but almost shed
breathing, but almost dead
sally's been a wunderkind all her life, what a girl
till she raised her hands and said stop to the world
a tad scattered, she wondered just what she would do
a list of promises betrayed
she gathered a winter's worth of cash
but out of habit, she stayed
things not, but almost said
breathing, but almost dead
tears not, but almost shed

fairy
tale
i told you i'd slipped into a fairy tale
you just laughed and shut your eyes
i drove us up and down the coastal towns
you took me by surprise
you said i could see you, but i already needed you
i should have told you, but you heard it too much anyway
i stopped to read between the lines on your face
you led me to believe
we could grab our coats and go
you'd follow me out to california
you'd leave your home without a note
i could see you but i already needed you
i should have told you, but you knew too much anyway
i tried to read between the lines on your face
and deep down, i search for anything
any little clue to tell me if you'd really stay
what you said is you'd tell me everything
what you meant is what you didn't say
i asked a favor for a friend
you told me that's all that we would be
i showed you a diamond ring and everything
you laughed and gave it back to me
and deep down, i search for anything
any little clue to tell me if you'd really stay
what you said is you'd tell me everything
what you meant is what you didn't say
and deep down, i search for anything
any little clue to tell me if you'd really stay
what you said is you'd tell me everything
what you meant is what you didn't say

sanctuary
i toss
a penny down the well but i can't wait
and it's too dark to tell
if it ever hits the water
i see you running through the wheat
it looks like rain and you're too sweet
to play the tempting farmer's daughter
i'll take the heat
you turn your pale white back
i'll take the key
from under the welcome mat and we
open the first of many doors
i'll braid your hair and sweep the floor
we'll make a run for sanctuary
forget the trip you planned for may
it doesn't matter anyway
don't turn away from sanctuary
nero, he's my hero
cause he's all decked out in sheets
and leaves with berries
peggy lee don't do the same for me
i can't get too close to fuzzy sweaters
i'll take the heat
you turn your pale white back
i'll take the key
from under the welcome mat and we
open the first of many doors
i'll braid your hair and sweep the floor
we'll make a run for sanctuary
forget the trip you planned for may
it doesn't matter anyway
don't turn away from sanctuary
i hear you calling from the hall
but i can't make out words at all
something like "losing elegance"
i was heading down a path and i will turn but not too fast
you know i lose my balance
i'll take the heat
you turn your pale white back
i'll take the key
from under the welcome mat and we
open the first of many doors
i'll braid your hair and sweep the floor
we'll make a run for sanctuary
forget the trip you planned for may
it doesn't matter anyway
don't turn away from sanctuary

i
let you
woke
up on tuesday with the sun and suspicions of deeds
committed monday, just for fun, but the whistle of reeds
made me remember, triggering this hollow feeling she
rolled over slowly, started in to peeling back the three
last words that you had said
they started running around my head
it's as far as you make it
i give you mine and you take it
and i let you
forgiven wednesday for the lies but concealing the pain
in telling you, i surmised, i had nothing to gain
my eyes revealed it, but you would not accuse me of sin
her tender touches rolled over me in places you've been
and i could not help myself
now i understand how you felt
it's as far as you make it
i give you mine and you take it
and i let you
"it's just a shade of meaning," is what you said
just like the painting hanging over the bed
take it off the wall, don't want to see it all
reminding me of my mistakes again
i can see her but she wants to be a drifter and i
try to keep her, tell her i was such a misfit but she
sees right through me, hearing through the thicket the train
take off my glasses and handed her the ticket the rain
falls from my eyes again
i hear it pulling around the bend
it's as far as you make it
i give you mine and you take it
and i let you
it's as far as you make it
i give you mine and you take it
don't come to me if you break it
and i let you
